Artist Profile - Seth Randal

Seth Randal, through inspiration and passion, has transformed the pate de crîstal (a derivative of pate de verre) genre. His palate ranges from richly saturated purples and greens to hues of amber and taupe. Randal's artwork is fueled by the historical objects of Egypt and Greece. As a child, he would travel with his mother and soak in the enigma of the objects that he encountered. Little did he know that years later, as an adult, these memories would revisit him as artistic inspiration. A prevalent theme found in Randal's work is his re-connection with the ideas inherent in jewelry making, which he studied and practiced in college, while at the Royal College of Art and Parsons School of Design. Randal's work, which emphasizes preciousness, intricate handling, and vibrant colors is reminiscent of the Art Nouveau period. His pieces can be found in the collections of the Los Angeles County Art Museum and the Corning Museum of Glass.
